Govinda was born on December 21, 1963, in Virar, Mumbai, to former actor Aroon (Arun Kumar Ahuja) and singer and actress Nirmala Devi. He was the youngest of six children and was dubbed “Chi Chi,” which means “little finger.” Govind was raised with Punjabi and Sindhi ancestors on both his paternal and maternal sides. He received his Bachelor of Commerce degree from Vartak College in Vasai.
