Tyisha Miller, a 19-year-old African-American woman, was shot by police in central Riverside, California, in December 1998. Tyisha was discovered asleep in a locked automobile with a flat tire and the engine turned on. Her vehicle was parked at a nearby gas station. When officers from the Riverside Police Department arrived and spotted a revolver on her lap, her relatives contacted 911.
Cynthia shook and foamed at the mouth. Officers forced their way into the vehicle. One reached for the firearm, but she awoke and clutched it, prompting the officers to shoot her 23 times. The cops were all found not guilty. According to reports, a group of protesters was arrested along the busy SR 91.

Sean Bell was shot and killed by plainclothes officers on November 25, 2006, in the Jamaica district of Queens, New York. Three of the five cops were charged with manslaughter but were found not guilty. On May 7, 2008, Al and others demonstrated peacefully near major river crossings in New York City, including the Brooklyn Bridge, Queens-borough Bridge, Triborough Bridge, Manhattan Bridge, Holland Tunnel, and Queens–Midtown Tunnel.
