Diamond began his musical career at the age of ten when he received a drum kit as a Christmas gift. He began playing in school bands at the age of thirteen and determined he wanted to be a musician.

Diamond first heard reggae music while listening to KZSU, the college radio station. He has hooked right away and began playing reggae. In 1992, he toured with The Native Sons in Portland, Oregon on two occasions. They traveled through Oregon, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, and Colorado.

Later, he began working with several of Kingston’s prominent studio artists, including guitarist Dwight Pinkney, percussionist Bongo Herman, and singer Winston Jarrett, in Jamaica. He asked Winston Jarrett to tour and perform at the Sierra Nevada Music Festival for the first time in 2000.

To accompany Winston Jarrett on this tour, he organized The Solid Foundation Band. Following Winston Jarrett’s breakthrough, The Solid Foundation Band proceeded to tour with other Jamaican singers such as Tony Rebel, Queen Ifrica, Everton Blender, and Richie Spice.

In 2002, President Brown engaged The Solid Foundation Band as his backing band. Diamond visited Jamaica in 2004.

He began writing and recording songs for his debut album, “Diamond in the Rough,” while working as the Resident Engineer at Geejam Studios in Port Antonio. After two years in Jamaica, he relocated to Washington DC, and released “Diamond in the Rough” on his SUB80 Record label.

Nelson Miller, one of Burning Spear’s drummers, took over the drummer’s chair in The Solid Foundation Band, and he stepped to the front of the stage as a singer. In addition, he toured the United States four times with President Brown in 2007, and his CD, “Diamond in the Rough,” was published in 2007.

From 2010 until 2015, he lived in Lusaka, Zambia, where he recorded traditional African music and mixed Tarrus Riley’s Mecoustic CD. He relocated to Kingston, Jamaica, in 2015, to run his recording studio.
