It was also the first weekly dramatic series to feature an African-American lead actor. For three years in a row, Bill received Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for this series. The Bill Cosby Show was Cosby’s return to television. The show aired on NBC from 1969 through 1971. He also produced, conceived, and hosted Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids, an animated television series.
