Camille is a distant cousin of Tom Hanks, the famous actor. Her ancestors traced back to “Abraham Lincoln,” the 16th President of the United States. Camille’s parents are both employed and have never had financial difficulties.

In the mid-1990s, she wrote the foreword to Thelma Williams’ novel ‘Our Family Table: Recipes and Food Memories from African-American Life Models.’ She wrote the preface to a few more books that highlight the importance of the African American community.
