Christopher Thomas Henchy was born in New York on March 23, 1964. He was raised in Augusta, Georgia, as the son of Michael and Patricia Henchy. Chris began his studies at Saint Mary on the Hill Catholic School and graduated from Friendswood High School in 1982. He was a member of the journalistic club in high school and on the yearbook staff. After finishing his studies, he enrolled at the University of New Mexico for further education. He majored in finance and graduated with a B.S. degree.

He moved to New York City after finishing college, working on Wall Street to make ends meet. Chris worked for a while before leaving that profession to pursue a career in comedy. He landed a position at MTV, where he wrote monologue jokes for the comedy show The Garry Sanders Show.

In 1996, he wrote for Campus Cops, which was only the beginning of his endeavors. He wrote for a number of television specials as well as guest appearances on numerous series. After success in this field, he created the television series Battery Park in 2000. Elizabeth Perkins starred in the series, which debuted in 2000.

He developed and produced the television comedies Life With Bonnie and Spin City. He created the show I’m With Her, loosely based on his relationship with his wife, Brooke. The show aired for one season before being canceled by ABC.

He co-executive produced the HBO series Entourage and also planted Eastbound & Down. They founded the website Funny or Died with Adam McKay and Will Ferrell. He also wrote or produced the films The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard, The Campaign, The Other Guys, and Land of the Lost.
