David Gilmour is an English guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter who was a founding member of the rock band Pink Floyd.

David Jon Gilmour was born in Cambridge, England on March 6, 1946. He is currently 56 years old. Sylvia, his mother, was a trained teacher who later worked as a video editor for the BBC. Douglas Gilmour, his father, was a senior lecturer in zoology at the University of Cambridge.

Gilmour was born in Trumpington, Cambridgeshire, while they were living there. They finally settled in Grantchester Meadows in 1956, after a series of moves. His nationality and ethnicity are both English and White.
