In the bedroom, she told her children that she wanted them to go to Heaven. Furthermore, she went to shoot the gun to see if it worked and inadvertently shot her left hand.

She later admitted to attempting to overdose with the remaining pills in her prescription bottle. She then called her husband and sister-in-law to inform them that she had shot her children, according to the affidavit.

Her husband, Isidro, immediately dialed 911, and Phoenix police received an emergency call at 11:45 a.m. reporting that his wife had shot his children. Esther’s sister-in-law stayed on the phone with her when she dialed 911 after hearing a child cry in the background.

When officers came, they found Esther seated on the bedroom floor with her unresponsive 2-year-old son and her son lying on the floor with multiple gunshot wounds. They were all brought to hospitals nearby.
