Kane was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, on August 2, 1991, to Perry and Sheri Kane, who named him after American boxer Evander Holyfield (he later met Holyfield at age 18). Evander Kane comes from a mixed ethical family of African descent. He is originally from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

His father was an amateur boxer and hockey player, and he comes from an athletic family. Kane’s mother was a volleyball player in college. Leonard Kane, his uncle, is a member of the Canadian Ball Hockey Hall of Fame. Kane’s cousin, Dwayne Provo, spent seven years in the Canadian Football League (CFL) and one season with the National Football League’s New England Patriots (NFL).
