On October 14, 1973, George Floyd was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina, USA. His zodiac sign was Libra, and he was 46 years old when he was murdered. Furthermore, his given name is George Perry Floyd Junior.

He did, however, lose his delivery driver employment after driving without a valid commercial license and being involved in a small accident. When the COVID-19 outbreak hit Minnesota, he hunted for another work, and his financial position worsened when the club collapsed.

Death

On May 25, 2020, a white Minneapolis police officer named Derek Chauvin murdered George Floyd by pressing his knee on Floyd’s neck.

Furthermore, when he was handcuffed, the officer kneed him for 9 minutes and 29 seconds. Two other officers restrained Floyd in a smartphone video, and a fourth officer kept witnesses from helping.

During the final two minutes, he became lifeless and had no pulse, but Derek kept his knee on his neck. Even when the emergency medical technicians arrived to treat Floyd, Derek kept his knee on his neck.

When a grocery shop employee accused Floyd of using counterfeit $20 money, he alerted the cops. His heart stopped while officers were restraining him, according to the medical examiner, and his death was ruled a homicide.

Following that, on March 12, 2021, the Minneapolis City Council approved a $27 million payment to the Floyd family in response to a wrongful death complaint.

Later, on June 25, 2020, Judge Cahill sentenced Derek to twenty-two and a half years in jail. Furthermore, many individuals around the world criticized police officers’ use of force against black suspects.

After Death

Protests began the day after George Floyd’s death in Minneapolis and spread to cities throughout all 50 US states and overseas. On June 4, 2020, a memorial service was held in Minneapolis, with Al Sharpton delivering the eulogy.

Several colleges and universities, including North Central University, Alabama State, Oakwood University, Ohio University, and others, have established scholarships in his honor.

Following Floyd’s death, numerous celebrities and ordinary people began using the hashtag #blacklivesmatter on public and social media channels.

Prior to his death, he suffered financially and worked as a security guard and delivery driver. The City of Minneapolis resolved a wrongful death lawsuit with Floyd’s family for $27 million after his death.
