Gladys Berejiklian is an Australian politician who served as New South Wales’ 45th Premier and as the leader of the New South Wales Liberal Party.

She was born on September 22, 1970, and is now 51 years old. Berejiklian was born in Sydney’s Manly Hospital, the eldest of three daughters to Armenian immigrant parents, Krikor and Arsha.

During the Armenian genocide in 1915, Turkish soldiers orphaned her grandparents. Berejiklian only spoke Armenian until the age of five, when she began learning English.

She has remained active in the Armenian-Australian community, serving on the Armenian National Committee of Australia for a period of time. She attended a commemoration ceremony for the 100th anniversary of the Armenian genocide in Yerevan in 2015.
