Jack also served in the Army during WWII, where he was assigned to the Armed Forces Radio Service (AFRS). He also played Maurice Pulvermacher in the original Broadway production of I Can Get It for You Wholesale in 1962.

Despite this, he co-starred in the London production of the musical drama Promises, Promises in 1969, recreating his film role in this piece based on The Apartment.
