Joe Hahn was born in the city of Dallas, Texas. He grew up in Glendale, California. He is the youngest of three siblings. Hann is of Korean descent. In the year 1995, he graduated from Herbert Hoover High School in Glendale, California. Later, he enrolled at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena but did not complete his studies because he wanted to devote all of his time to his band.

Hahn began his career as a DJ while still in high school. When he was in college, he met Mike Shinoda and became a member of his band Xero, which later became “Hybrid Theory” in 1999. The EP “Hybrid Theory” was released by the band. The band’s name was changed to Linkin Park during the recording sessions. Hahn and Shinoda appeared in the hit single “It’s Going Down.” He also made a cameo appearance on the song “Slip Out the Back” from the album The Rising Tied.
