In June 2002, Joey married Rory Lee Feek. The two met for the first time during a songwriter night. The pair supported one another through their ups and downs. They also planned to spend the year at home because they were expecting a baby in early 2014.

On February 17, 2014, the baby was born. They gave their infant the name Indiana. Rory and her sisters were present when she was delivered home by midwives. Indiana was born with the condition Down syndrome.

Death

Rory disclosed in a blog post that Joey’s cancer was terminal, and that they were discontinuing all treatment because the chemotherapy and radiation she had endured over the previous few months were ineffective.

The MRI “scans revealed that two quarter-sized tumors have already grown back in the same area that they had been blasting daily with chemo and radiation,” they claimed.

There were also other tiny tumors evident across the abdomen. Joey died of cancer on March 4, 2016, at the age of 41. She was laid to rest in the Feek farm’s family cemetery.
