He joined the TRS in August 2014. In addition, he was elected as a TRS politician to Telangana’s Legislative Council in 2016, a state formed in 2014 by the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. Thummala Nageswara Rao was elected as an MLA, hence the slot became vacant. Under the terms of the MLA quota, the election was uncontested.
Fareeduddin was appointed to Y. S. R. Reddy’s ministry in May 2004. He was also Minister of Minority Welfare and Fisheries in 2004, and he was still in that office in February 2007. He was named Minister of Cooperation in April 2007.
