The Pete Frates #3 Fund was established by him and his family to help finance medical care and expenses not covered by health insurance. Pete Frates, meantime, championed the Ice Bucket Challenge on social media in the summer of 2014. In addition to raising awareness of ALS, more than $100 million was raised to aid in the search for a cure.
