The news of the home invasion was relayed to the LAPD by someone on the East Coast. Six minutes after the call, the police arrived at the residence. Following a series of robberies at homes rented by artists, the authorities suspected the house was a destination for home invasions. The rapper’s death was initially thought to be gang-related by the LAPD. Since Pop Smoke was linked to the Crips, they suspected/considered it.
