Military Service

He joined the Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) in 1979 after working on his body. Following the Iranian Revolution, he joined the IRGC. He was stationed in northwestern Iran during his guardsman tenure.

Following the war, he served as an IRGC commander in Kerman Province in the 1990s. Soleimani was one of the IRGC officers that signed a letter to President Mohammad Khatami during the 1999 student revolt in Tehran.

Furthermore, the letter stated that the military would crush the student rebellion if Khatami did not. Similarly, the message addressed the possibility of launching a coup against Khatami.

Furthermore, in 2008, he led a team of Iranian investigators investigating the death of Imad Mughniyah. In March 2008, I assisted in arranging a ceasefire between the Iraqi Army and the Mahdi Army.
