Rosemary Rogers was born in Panadura, British Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) on December 7, 1932. She died at the age of 86, and she was of Sri Lankan descent. Her natal sign is Sagittarius, according to her birth date, however, her ethical and religious convictions are unknown.

Her parents, Barbara “Allan” and Cyril Jansz, were Dutch-Portuguese settlers who owned several private schools. Rogers was surrounded by attendants and shielded from the rest of the world.

She later marries Leroy Rogers in his hometown of St. Louis, Missouri. She moved to California with her family, where she raised her two kids, Michael and Adam.

After her second marriage dissolved after eight years, Rogers was left to support herself and four children on her wages as a typewriter for the Solano County Parks Department. The following year, in 1969, her parents moved in with Rogers. In Solano County, Rosemary met Shirlee Busbee and became her friend and mentor.

She later married poet Christopher Kadison, who was 20 years her junior, in September 1984. However, it was a brief union.
