Saina Nehwal, India’s pride, was born on March 17, 1990, in Hisar, Haryana, India. She was the younger daughter of Harvir Singh Nehwal and Usha Rani Nehwal.
After earning a Ph.D. in agricultural science, Nehwal’s father was assigned to Hyderabad. Nehwal with her parents at the Commonwealth Games in 2018. She started playing badminton since she couldn’t socialize with other kids due to a language barrier.
At the time, Nehwal was eight years old. Her parents both played badminton for many years. Her mother was a Haryana state player, and her father was a university player.

In 2002, Nehwal won her maiden badminton title, the U-13 Sub-Junior National title. She won the Junior National title in 2004, then the Senior National title three years later. Similarly, in 2005, she earned her first international title when she won the Asian Satellite Badminton Championship in India.
At the age of 16, she made her World Championship debut in 2006 but was eliminated in the first round by Jiang Yangjioa. In the same year, she qualified for the Junior World Championship finals but finished second. Nehwal made her Olympic debut in 2008, reaching the quarterfinals before losing to Kristin Yulianti. She also won the Commonwealth Youth Championships and the World Junior Championships in 2008.
Saina Nehwal’s Husband Marriage & Relationship
After an almost decade-long relationship, Saina Nehwal married Parupalli Kashyap in 2018. Parupalli is also a professional badminton player who has represented India in the Olympics. They eventually joined the Pullela Gopichand badminton academy, which was founded in 2004. Both began dating the year before the World Junior Badminton Championship.
They developed a rivalry during practice, however, due to Nehwal’s desire to be the best. Their friendship became stronger as they traveled to various locations to attend events together. They’ve shared the highs and lows of their professional lives. Kashyap embarked on a new role as a coach when injuries impeded Nehwal’s growth in 2018. Both are now training and preparing for a medal run in the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
