Sting was born in Omaha, Nebraska, and raised in a middle-class household in Southern California. Steve was always interested in athletics and football since he was a child and aspired to work in the same industry. He was also a bodybuilder and eventually founded Gold’s Gym, a health club.

Borden’s ring name was changed from Flash to Sting, while Hellwig’s was changed to Rock, and both of you joined Hotstuff & Hyatt International, a heel stable led by “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert and Missy Hyatt. Sting fought Vader and Rude for an entire year in 1994, and they mutually decided their dominance over many wrestling contests. After defeating Rude in the same year, he ultimately won the WCW International World Heavyweight Championship.
