Taylor Catherine Crosby was born on March 16, 1996, in Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia, Canada to Tina Forbes-Crosby and Troy Crosby. Sidney Crosby is her older brother.

Troy Crosby, her father, was an ice hockey player. In the Quebec Junior Major Hockey League, he was the goaltender for the Verdun Junior Canadiens (QMJHL).

The Montreal Canadiens selected him 240th overall in the 1984 NHL Entry Draft, although he never played in the NHL. Crosby attended Shattuck-St. Mary’s School in Faribault, Minnesota, and was an honor student. She played on their prep ice hockey team.

Along with being a gifted hockey player, she excelled academically and was frequently commended by her professors. She was chosen for the U-17 ice hockey team as part of the Hockey Nova Scotia program. Crosby represented Team Canada in the IIHF Women’s High-Performance U-18 Camp in Sheffield, England in 2013.

She attended Northeastern University in Massachusetts after graduating from high school. She did, however, move to St. Cloud State University in Minnesota. At St. Cloud State, she majors in mass media and minors in business.
