Tom Brady’s Profession & Career

Tom Brady began his NFL career in 2000 when he was drafted in the sixth round by the New England Patriots, where he mostly served as a backup quarterback and only appeared in one game that season. The second season, when he was allowed to fill in for the injured starting quarterback, was a completely different story. For the first time, he displayed strength and speed, demonstrating what he was truly capable of as a quarterback. Furthermore, by the end of the season, he had established himself as a star, having led his team to victory in 11 of the 14 games in which he started. He was named MVP of the game after leading the team to a thrilling victory over the St. Louis Rams in Super Bowl 36.

Despite injuries, he made a comeback.

He didn’t have to wait long for his second MVP award, which came just two years later when he helped his team defeat the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 38. In 2004, he led the Patriots to a stunning victory over the Philadelphia Eagles, continuing his Super Bowl-winning streak. The Patriots re-signed him in 2005 for six more years and the entire following season; his team was 12-4 at the time. After suffering a serious knee injury in the first game of the 2008 season, he was sidelined for two years. He underwent several surgeries and treatments, sparking speculation that his professional career was coming to an end.

Accused of deception

He was in the midst of the worst period of his professional career after the 2014 season. Following his team’s AFL Championship Game victory over the Indianapolis Colts, it was discovered that the ball was underinflated, and Tom was accused of cheating. The entire episode is suppressed for a time before resurfacing in May 2015. An investigation revealed that the ball was altered while Tom was present. As a result, Tom was suspended for the first four games of the 2015 season. A federal court dismissed the claims in September of that year, noting that the suspension lacked legal support.

Retirement

Despite a difficult period, he was able to secure his team a spot in the 2016 Super Bowl. He led the Patriots to a 34-28 victory over the Atlanta Falcons, becoming the NFL’s only quarterback with five Super Bowl rings. He also signed a two-year contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. On March 13, 2022, he announced his return to the Buccaneers for the 2022 season, just 40 days after officially retiring.
