Valerie June Bowman was born on June 14, 1956, in Shiraz, Iran, to James E Bowman and Barbara T Bowman. In 1956, her father, a pathologist and geneticist led a children’s hospital in Shiraz. Her family was forced to relocate to London when she was five years old, and her parents are of European and American heritage.
