Many questioned his career choices, but he stuck to his guns and eventually finished his first book, “Term Limits.”

It was, however, apparently rejected by over sixty publishers. In 1998, he self-published “Term Limits,” which rapidly became a local best-seller. Within a week, the publishing business “Pocket Books” snatched it up and signed him to a two-book deal.
