In 1960, Yko was transferred to the NHK Tokyo Broadcasting Station, where she moderated the television program “Good Morning Everyone” once a week. For the next two years, she was in charge of three consistent weekly shows.

She left NHK in 1962 to work for an advertising agency. Nogiwa opted to host the 15-minute live program “Women’s Senka” on TBS because she was worried about not being paid due to a lack of clients. She then got determined to achieve her dream of becoming an actor.

Furthermore, the lovely actress attended school in Paris from February 1966 to March 1967. She was the “first Japanese woman to wear a miniskirt.” The actress was cast in the 1968 drama “Key Hunter,” which aired with a 30% audience rating for the next five years. She also composed the theme song for the drama. Yko rose to prominence as the mother-in-law in the 1992 television drama “Zutto Anata ga Sukidatta.” Yko later became a regular cast member of TBS dramas such as “Double Kitchen,” “Dare ni mo Ienai,” “Sweet Home,” and “Chonana no Yome.”

Furthermore, in March 2011, she spoke out against nuclear power plants and switched to LED lights in her home to save energy. Nogiwa was one of the celebrities who spoke out against the enactment of the Specially Designated Secrets Act in 2013. Her illness returned in 2016, while she was filming “Yasuragi no Sato.” Despite her declining health, she continued to film the drama until May 7, 2017. She was admitted to the hospital the next day with pneumonia. However, she was unable to fully recover and died on June 13, 2017.
